A multilinear map is a function:

such that:
- 𝑉1, ..., 𝑉𝑛, and 𝑋 are vector spaces
- for each 𝑖, if all the variables but 𝑣𝑖 are held constant then 𝑓(𝑣1, ..., 𝑣𝑖, ..., 𝑣𝑛) is a linear function of 𝑉𝑖 to 𝑋
