Chemical Reactions & Stoichiometry
molecule - a group of same atoms bonded together
compound - a group of different atoms bonded together
Chemical Reactions
chemical reactions are often described with an equation of the format below
- reactants → products
- 2H2 + O2 → 2H2O
chemical reactions can be either:
- reversible - where products can easily become its original reactant form
- irreversible - where products requires lots of energy to become its original reactant form
Stoichiometry
involves using relationships between reactants and/or products in a chemical reaction to determine desired quantitative data
